With more white collar workers transitioning to working from home, home offices are no longer just a desirable feature for many homebuyers but a necessary one. The Valley by Golfview Communities has prioritized this in our floorplans, setting up new residents to have the flexibility to work or run their business from home comfortably.
Here are three reasons to prioritize a home office when buying a new home.
-
More Flexibility, Better Productivity
From May 2020 to December 2021, nearly 40% of the Canadian workforce was working from home. Many of those Canadians are now continuing to work from home, at least occasionally.
Not only has this arrangement been more convenient, but there is some evidence it also increases productivity. A U.S. study conducted in 2015 indicated that 30% of remote workers accomplished more in less time and 24% accomplished more in the same amount of time as if they were in office. Twenty-three percent said they were willing to work longer since they removed commuting time.
In comparison, A Statistics Canada survey found that during the pandemic, 90% of new Canadian remote workers reported being just as productive at home than in the office.
Having a home office provides a designated space for such work. It’s also a welcome bonus for families who have young children who need desk space to finish their homework.
-
Desirable For Resale
In the post-pandemic era, a survey organized by Zoocasa found that for 43% of respondents, a home office had become a more desirable characteristic, up about 16% from before the pandemic. It’s clear that offices are and will remain a key selling feature.
-
Convert To Another Space
Home offices which range on average from between 50 and 100 square feet, also give you the flexibility to convert the space to a nursery, a library or additional storage.
The Valley comes standard with many new features and finishes when you purchase an executive townhome in addition to the home office space. For details on the release, register at PembrokeValley.com.
